The last time we went to the mountain was when my youngest was just 3 years old and he didn’t enjoy the snow too much. He thought it way too hard, cold and miserable. So this year he was hesitant on his first and second downhill tubing but then on the third trip down I heard a squeal of delight and the rest of the day was fun and fresh for him. Fact is, I couldn’t pull the tube around fast enough for the next journey up the tow rope. I’m not complaining mind you, just delighted that he was having so much fun! And so was everybody else. Family times are truly some of the best times in this life. And that is why I enjoy what I do...helping people build better and more abundant family times together. Recently during an application process someone wanted to list their children as an asset. Truly, our children are our biggest assets in life. But, of course, there can’t be an assigned monetary value placed on any of them because they are all so priceless. And this is why my passion in life is making sure my children and wife are provided for even when I am no longer here and can do the providing for them. Of course such provision goes far beyond food, clothing, shelter and health even though such are the basics of human survival. But once these basic provisions have been met there are more essential provisions that must be provided in order to create a permanent value. Provisions such as faith, virtue, awareness, tolerance, benevolence, integrity, and respect are the necessities which allow a person to create permanent value and by creating such values personally one can then provide something of value to the rest of the world as well. Just like that little squeal from my 5 year old...what value. It can never be replaced, bought or sold for anything! Many people today in America and around the world are attempting just to survive...survive the hour, the market crash, the lack of a job, the want of food, the need of clothing, the demise of basic health. And because of this survival mode the real value which could be theirs in life is but an obscure abstract to them. Yet many who have their basic needs abundantly supplied neglect the things in life which could bring them significance...significantly providing the basic needs of others who are attempting just to survive. Never is this selfish mentality more evident than when someone buys into the perverted idea that you can out-live the need of a death benefit, i.e., buying term life insurance and investing the difference. It is this mentality that sets up the next generation for a life of survival. Buying term life insurance provides a great need for a young and growing family, but participating whole life insurance provides an opportunity to create an enduring value...a perpetual life of significance! And it’s not just a value in the present but a value which can be passed on to the third and fourth generation. Such significance is sorely needed today. In fact, because of its absence more and more people suffer and are subject to foraging for the basic needs in life. And when a person or a society has to focus on survival, rather than significance; poverty and slavery abound. Snow can be soft, fresh and fun. But snow can also be hard, cold and miserable. And that is how your life can be too. The nice thing about life is that you get to choose how your life will be. Do you want a life of full of significance and fun providing freshness to others? Or will you make your life hard, cold and miserable to others? Only you can make the choice to help others by creating enduring value in your life today. And one of the best ways to create such value is to make sure that others have their basic needs in life met. There is no other way that is better at making this happen than owning participating whole life insurance on your life. By providing for the ones you love and care for, they can remain significant in their own life time too instead of having to focus overtly on their own survival. It’s the most human thing to do.
